Villarreal boss Quique Setién has provided a fitness update ahead of Sunday’s crucial clash with Real Sociedad.

The Yellows welcome their top four rivals to Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday in what will be a key clash between two sides separated by just two positions and seven points.

This is likely the last chance Villarreal will get to pull themselves into the top four race, with La Real struggling over recent weeks.

But as we head towards the final run-in, injuries are adding up a little. Gerard Moreno has another injury issue, while there is also concern over key defender Raul Albiol.

Speaking about the pair in his pre-match press conference, Setién said: “Gerard has a aggrevation, we are waiting to see how he does, but it’s true that it’s a problem because we lose one of our important players.

“I would like to have everyone, but we adapt to what we have. Raul has trained quite well, and we are going to see how the problem he has evolves, and whether he can participate.”

Speaking more generally about Real Sociedad, the Villarreal boss added: “I see they have a lot of mechanisms, and they are a difficult team to control. Aside from their mechanisms, what they have is a lot of individual quality, and that is what makes the difference.

“La Real have players of a high level, they make the difference with the ball at their feet. The way they play is important, but what you have to see is the players and their quality. It’s a very consistent team that requires a lot for you to beat them. It’s a team that generates a lot of opportunities to score, and it’s something they have done in these (recent) games where they haven’t got results.”
