Transfer activity seems to be quiet for Villarreal now. It might be that Villarreal is biding its time like last year, (if you remember the scramble that all happened last minute). On the other hand, this could be it for all we know.
Villarreal certainly has a big enough squad although fans have debated if it’s enough to do one better than last year. We will look at some of the rumours flying around mainly on Twitter. As you know you get rumours that are in the realms of fantasy (Allen, I hope you get that reference to 60’s British comedy we love) and the rumours that make sense.
Make of them what you will but these can be quite hilarious especially when you’re playing Champions League next season.
Danjuma
Probably one of the most realistic and only genuine rumours and out there. He plays for championship Bournemouth He is a very quick and tricky player and seems to be just as comfortable running through the centre as on the wing. Seems to me Emery likes versatility from wingers which does make sense considering the other rumours. We do lack that in a way, Samu has improved but doesn’t feel quite comfortable. Moi is versatile but doesn’t seem like a conventional winger. Ontiveros and Raba as well lack that ability to play on both sides. Bournemouth want 25 million for him, bearing in mind we didn’t spend 25 on Zambo I can’t see us splashing that on him. Possibly we can work something out and I do feel we need that.
The rumours flying around on Twitter
Possibly: Laborde (Montpellier), Harit (Schalke 04),
Outpriced or Out of our league: Sarabia (PSG) Anguissa (Fulham),
Striker
I am not quite sure where we are at with strikers if I am honest. There is a lot of rumours flying around but bear in mind we do technically have 4 strikers on our books with the signing of Boulaye Dia. Fer Nino really should be going on loan next season. It would be a huge waste seeing him on the bench again all season. I can’t imagine the board would be happy with that either. If he is loaned out I still don’t really see the need for a fourth striker unless someone else is leaving. These are some of the rumours floating around which might liven up your Day/Morning
Rafa Mir
I think to be honest I think he is out of our league and is probably the perfect signing for Atletico Madrid who is interested. Looking at him, his physicality and presence would be ideal for them. He seems to be having a blinder of an Olympics. I can’t see him being signed by us than being happy sat behind Alcacer or Dia.
Patrick Cutrone
Not entirely convinced by this rumour. I get the impression whenever a Wolves’ player is on the transfer list or loan list we somehow get pushed as a potential target. Half the time I get the impression the general media gets confused with Valencia and Villarreal. Every time there’s a rumour we seemed to be linked with the same player as our rivals. I am aware he spent last season on loan at Valencia however he didn’t score in 7 appearances. I can’t see either of us pushing the boat out for him although Valencia may be keener. Another rumour for you to kick about though
Martin Braithwaite
Got to say this one did make me chuckle. Seems every club in the world is linked with Braithwaite. Barcelona has serious problems and is having to offload players. They will push anything in the media. Credit, where credit is due Braithwaite, is shrewd. Up there he is down as one of the richest footballers in the world with his business’ outside football. I am not sure we need him on the pitch, but he could always provide advice as a business partner for Roig. Most football fans with any kind of morals would not forgive him for how he left Leganes but, in the end, would any of us be any different?
Let us know in the comments section any rumours you can find no matter how crazy they might be. It’s a strange world we live in after all.
