This club man. They do this all the time. You think everything has died on the transfer front, you find yourself wanting another player but can’t really do anything about it, and all the sudden BOOM. Out of nowhere today Fabrizio Romano drops his famous ‘here we go’ that Villarreal is signing Arnaut Danjuma from Bournemouth for 20m.

We did a profile on Danjuma a while back. You can read that article here. His ability to transition from the English Championship to the heights of La Liga will be crucial, as the reported fee is a ton of money for Villarreal. Ideally, our wide midfielders now look like Danjuma on one side and Samu Chukwueze on the other, providing goal threat from both sides- something we lacked last season.

This move should hasten the already reported exit of Javi Ontiveros from the club. Danjuma is a much more refined and talented player. This will also mean, most likely, that Moi Gomez continues to be rotated into the midfield pivot, as we have already seen some early in this preseason and season. This will allow Yeremi Pino to continue to get minutes and develop.

I personally can’t wait to see Danjuma in action, though I suspect we won’t see him start right away. A few minutes against Espanyol, more against Atleti and then training over the international break should work out well for him to get him fully up to speed right about the time Pau Torres comes back from his vacation and other players start getting healthy.

Welcome to the club, Endvavant Danjuma!
