Gerard Moreno’s luck finally came to fruition in the 73rd minute. The Villarreal star played a 1-1 New signing Dia who shielded the ball from away Christensen. With a backward flick back Moreno slotted the ball into the back of the net 1-1

Other than a beautiful save from Asenjo from a Mason Mount shot on goal in the 110 minute Extra time played out evenly leading to Villarreal’s second penalty shootout in a final.

After 5 penalties the shootout became sudden death. It was Chelsea that prevailed with experience and fitness on their side. Emery will be hoping that this final will inspire his Villarreal stars in the first Match of La Liga 2122
