You just knew it would come to this, didn’t you? At some point (though it would have been nice in the final, wouldn’t it?) Unai Emery’s Villarreal would come face-to-face with his former club Arsenal. With Villarreal’s comfortable progression against Dinamo Zagreb, and Arsenal dispatching Slavia Prague, the two meet in the semifinals.
Time later for a detailed analysis of the matchup—Allen and Sidarth are enjoying the moment and reminiscing about our past European adventures. (Yes, we do go off on other topics a bit after the break, but it’s still short, by our standards!)
As a reminder, the first leg will be in Vila-real on April 29; the return leg in London a week later. Sr. Roig confirmed this evening— it is unlikely fans will be able to attend the semifinal in Spain; not sure about the return leg in the UK at this point. The winner will face the winner of Manchester United-Roma in Gdansk, Poland on May 26. At least, we hope so. Covid is still the wild card.....
