Villarreal finally returned to winning ways with victory against relegation threatened Eibar despite being down to 10 men and facing a penalty.
The Yellow submarine scored one of the quickest goals in the season in the 1st minute of the game. Dani Parejo with a beautiful over head ball found Gerard Moreno. The Villarreal star chested down the ball and squared the ball to Moi. Gomez. The winger slide the ball past the Eibar keeper to make it 1-0.
Eibar slowly began to control the game with Bryan Gill having several chances on goal giving the untested CB pairing of Funes Mori and Juan Foyth a run for their money.
Against the run of play, Villarreal’s next and only chance made the score 2-0. With Eibar’s right back Cote of the pitch. Moreno sprinted down the right hand side. With a Fifa like pass he found Carlos Bacca free on the left side. The Columbian calmly slide the ball into the back of the net before 2-0.
Villarreal looked to finish the 1st half on top until a penalty was awarded to Eibar. Garcia crossed from the right hand side. Eibar struck back early on in the second half in the 55nd minute. Enrich was surrounded by Villarreal players some how managed a shot on goal. The shot caught Asenjo of guard and he attempted to scramble the ball back across the line. The goal was awarded after it was deemed the ball crossed the line.
The final 10 minutes were nail biting for Villarreal fans as Capoue was sent of in 80th minute. Capoue has a right to feel aggrieved as it was 50 50 challenge. In any other league it would have been a yellow but this is La Liga after all.
It was Pedraza that saved the day for the Yellow Submarine in the 87nd minute. With a Beautiful counter attack after a stunning through ball from Moreno. Pedraza sprinted down the left hand side an attempted a lob. Dmitrovic pulled of an amazing save but could not keep out Pedraza’s second acrobatic volley making it 3-1.
Villarreal finally returned to winning ways after this victory and fans will hope it will kick start a run of much needed winning matches.
