By the time you read this, we’ll know what has happened in a couple of La Liga matches with ramifications for our position in the table. Hopefully, this post finds you with Real Sociedad having soundly beaten Granada and Athletic Club and Celta having drawn. After our match, we’ll all tune in to hope that Sevilla wins El Gran Derbi against Real Betis.

It’s that time of year, where teams are no longer just stockpiling points but you are watching every result in the league to see how things are jostling about for final positions. None of that watching matters, though, if we can’t take care of our business and beat Eibar.

The time of shrugging off draws is done. Drawing matches has recently turned into finding ways to lose them and our situation is dire. This team is far too talented to be in the shape it’s in. I saw someone on Twitter yesterday commenting about how Levante’s win over Valencia put them just two points shy of ‘star-studded Villarreal’ and at first, I scoffed at the description, but then I thought about names like Paco, Gerard, Parejo, and Pau and compared to the team nipping just at our heels located only 45 minutes away from us that’s exactly what we are.

Last season, when football stopped for COVID-19 it looked like all hope was lost for qualifying for Europe, but the team showed a lot of character when football returned and reversed their fortunes. During that run, Gerard Moreno was absolutely on fire in front of goal, and he’s held up his end of the bargain recently as well. He has only had one appearance in all of 2021 where he hasn’t scored or assisted. It’s time for everyone else to step up and help him out.
