On The Spot Report: Villarreal Victory Elapsed After Elche Comeback in 2-2 Draw

Villarreal left deflated after conceding 2 goals after dominant first half performance

Villarreal draw again as Gerrard Moreno’s return brings a brace of goals to bring the confidence back to the Yellow Submarine.

Elche were clearly not downhearted by the result. Early signs in the match showed they were up for a fight. The two sides went in at half time Villarreal clearly the happier side.

The relegation threatened side came out stronger side in the second half quickly responding to Gerrard’s brace. 49 minutes a poorly defended cross was curled in Albiol jumped to early as Carrilo sent in a header into the top corner.

Further misery was heaped on Villarreal’s parade. Pedraza gave a way a clumsy foul. The ball was then beautifully curled towards the goal. The ball rebounded of the post to fall to Boye who slide the ball in from the close post.

Villarreal clearly relaxed too much after the second half. There was no drive to respond to the two goals against the play. Trigueros fell flat on his face in the 89th Minute with his chance. This summed up Villarreal’s performance to bring yet another draw.
