It feels like not that long ago we were doing the preview stuff or our LAST match with Real Betis, yet here we are again. If you want to revisit the two part conversation we had with Betico Andrew Miller you can see that in the ‘related’ tab a little bit further down the screen.
I am sick of saying it, but we need a win. Draws are stupid, I’m tired of seeing them. I want three points and frankly the side needs one for both table and morale.
Our Opponents
Betis is in pretty good form. They’ve only lost once in the league since January, and have wins over Osasuna, Celta, and Huesca in that time. They’ve also drawn Real Sociedad and Sevilla in the league, beaten Real Sociedad in the Copa, and went out on penalties to a rejuvenated Athletic Club in that same competition. Their one loss was an entertaining 3-2 to Barcelona in their last time out.
Nabil Fekir and Sergio Canales are the offense. Canales has seven goals, four assists, and Fekir has six assists himself. It’s not that they don’t have other dangerous players, they certainly do, but those two make it all go.
Villarreal
I expect a very similar lineup to what we saw last week. Coquelin is obviously hurt now, so maybe Foyth steps up there while Jaume stays at RB? Pau missed some training this week, so keep an eye on whether he is included. Based on the evidence from Elche, I sincerely hope Gerard can play the full 90 because otherwise I have no confidence in our ability to sustain attacks.
Predictions
2-2, honestly... but the very idea makes me sick.
For optimism’s sake I’ll say 3-1 Villarreal.
