Villarreal vs Getafe: La Liga Gamethread

Unai Emery needs a win against a side his team should beat.

I feel dumb saying the same thing over and over and over and over again... but we need a win. It was good to beat Young Boys at midweek, it was a morale boost to see Emery dunk on Newcastle United and show loyalty to the club shortly after, but none of that means a whole lot of anything if we can’t beat a team as bad as Getafe.

Turns out, when you take Jose Bordalas’ violent, perverse, pressing scheme away from Getafe and they aren’t worth two cent. A team being good isn’t necessary a prerequisite for them getting a result against us, so we get to stress out all day today. What will make that worse is the fact that Getafe actually has more points than us in our last five respective La Liga matches.

I’ll be working during this one, so do your (Danju)magic and put the lineups in the comments. It’ll be interesting to see how Emery goes here. We really don’t need to rotate in one sense because the international break is getting ready to drop, but Yeremy Pino has looked gassed lately and we just don’t get to be fully healthy, ever. Getafe have drawn La Real and it took a red card against Carles Alena and an absurdly late Luis Suarez goal for Atleti to beat them. We gotta bring our A game.

I’m really at a point where I can’t be fully confident against any opponent, and yet, I still think we find a way to win this one.

Thoughts?
