Jamie Kemble talks Real Madrid, Manchester United, and the upcoming match against Real Betis. If you can’t see the video, it’s because you’re using Apple News and the universe is telling you to switch to Android:
As Jamie mentioned, we should be better rested than Real Betis, seeing as not only did they play a day after us, but they also had to travel a lot further. Manuel Pellegrini’s side is very strong in the early part of the campaign, but they’ve also had an alarmingly easy start to the year, outside of facing Real Madrid. They are a side that will certainly give you opportunities to score so we should be able to capitalize and get three points that are badly needed both in the table and also for morale.
Really, Real Madrid and Manchester United could well represent two of the three best teams we played all year, and I doggedly believe that we outplayed both of them within the space of a week. I think the vision Emery has for this side is starting to coalesce, but that will only actually be fully realized if we can finish some matches and put together a run of wins. Our next five matches are Real Betis, Osasuna, Young Boys, Athletic Club, and Cadiz, and frankly if we play the way we did against United and Madrid for long stretches we’ll get at least four wins in that run. We spent too long last season getting draw after draw and it cost us league places in the end, we need to stop that trend as soon as possible.
