On the Spot Report: Villarreal Castrate Celta Vigo in 4-0 Victory

Villarreal move up to 3rd place after 4-0 thumping of Celta Vigo as Emery’s new year streak continues.

Villarreal returned in style to defeat an in form Celta 4-0. On paper it promised to be a well fought match. Villarreal obviously hadn’t read the script as new signing Capoue made his La Liga debut in front of a back 4

5 minutes the Valencian side took an early 1-0 lead. Former Villarreal player Denis Suarez was caught dawdling on the ball. Parejo hounded the ball of him and played a through ball forward. Gerrard latched on to pass and sent a left footed shot into the back of the net.

12 minutes later Celta continued you have a nightmare of hapless passing. Goalkeeper Blanco played a sloppy pass from a his goal. The ball found itself to Trigueros waiting ont he edge box. The midfielder sent a curling cross finding Moi Gomez solo. The Villarreal star volleyed the ball home to make it 2-0

Villarreal continued to dominante the first half. 19 minutes in Parejo who was having phenomenal game so far made it 3-0. Pedraza was brought down on the left hand side and a freekick was awarded. Parejo sent a curling freekick into the box which somehow missed the defence and landed in the back of the net.

It was down to Fer for the fourth goal in 31 minute. Gerrard with beautiful ball control send a beautiful through ball towards the box. Fer Nino latched onto the pass and with a stunning dink lobbed the keeper to make it 4-0.

The Yellows clearly weren't missing the recently departed Kubo. The Japanese star ended his time with Villarreal to join Getafe this week. It was a dismal game for Celta Vigo after only registering two shots on goal.

Villarreal finished of the game comfortably to go 3rd in the table and press on for Champions League places.
