It’s matchday again! This time we get a chance to advance to the final 8 in the Copa Del Rey. At least three more La Liga teams will fall out of the tournament this weekend, and there are five lower division sides left contesting the crown. I personally feel like Villarreal, Sevilla, and Barcelona should probably be the favorites of the teams left, but the two Basque’s finalists from last year’s tournament are, remarkably still alive in two Copas at once.
Our opponents are well funded and have been used to competing against top flight sides, but they are also not quite as good as they have been in years past. No excuses, we have to get a win.

Pretty strong look to this side. I think Alex/Fer/Yeremi form the from three, Pau protects Funes Mori at CB, Rulli continues as the cup keeper and Estupinan and Pena are a strong set of fullbacks. I don’t particularly like Coquelin but he and Capoue should be a nasty double pivot for any attacks coming down the middle. Manu has the armband of course.

Name to watch here is of course Valery who scored twice against Cadiz. If things are close in the second half you might wanna keep an eye on Stuani making an appearance off the bench. Though he’s been plagued by injuries this year he is still far and away their most dangerous player. Eyeballing their minutes played for the year I don’t know that this is Girona’s strongest possible XI but there are certainly plenty or regulars in there.
