Javi Mata reports in AS that Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin will be joining Villarreal from Valencia. According to him the price will be close to €10m than €20m (I am reading probably €12-13m on twitter from a Valencian journalist as I write this) ; the reason for the lower fee is that Villarreal will sign Parejo to a three-year deal, and Coquelin to a four-year contract, and they will keep their Valencia salaries. So the lower transfer fee is to make up for higher salaries than what we would normally pay, evidently.
Javi Mata reports that Villarreal had already ‘convinced both players’ a couple of weeks ago, Sr. Roig Negueroles and a Valencia representative laid the foundations for an agreement last week, and now all that remains is some formal signatures.
Parejo and Coquelin are supposed to undergo medical tests at Paterna tomorrow, but it may be they head north to Vila-real instead. Apparently Parejo, at least, was told not to come to the first Valencia practice on Wednesday. So we should expect a formal announcement soon. And expect a rather tasty derby when we next face Valencia, hey?
