By my very dodgy math, (seriously, I’m bad at it, double check me) to make the Champions League we have to win our last three matches and Sevilla can’t gain another point. Getting to Europa is much simpler. A draw with Real Sociedad would give us the head to head tiebreaker against them so even if they finish level with us on points, they can’t finish ahead of us, so even if Getafe and Athletic Club finish ahead of us on points we would still be top seven and going to Europe.
It’s worth pointing out that while we beat La Real in our last matchup, they thoroughly kicked our cans for the first half our or more of that match, so while they’ve been listing since the restart this is not a match we can take for granted. That said, we’re at home, and we just need a result, any non-loss result. Given our general form since the restart, we have every reason to be confident.

STOP EVERYTHING. THAT’S A FER NINO SIGHTING! LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO! Kid has a chance to add to his early stages legend by helping us secure the points that get us back to Europe.
In other news, Samu starts on the bench, which I know will make many of you happy, and Ruben Pena is the right back, which I perosnally like. Interested to see at what point Paco comes in, and I’m gonna try to not over-analyze the kid starting over him.

Real Sociedad starts their own wonderkid in Barrenetxea. It’ll be an interesting one for sure.
Endavant!
