I hereby call this meeting of concerned groguets to order.
A lot of questions swirl around this game: will Bruno get to play? Will Chakla start? He is better than he was last time we saw him, right? Zambo will surely get some kind of rest right? Will Paco actually be involved? Will Alberto be as miserably awful as he was last match?
And in the midst of all this we have an incredibly crucial match with Granada.
Both of our first two matches back from this break were must wins because our opponents were so far down the table they just weren’t points we could afford to drop points to them. It was ugly at times, but we did it. The next three games are vital in a much different way. Granada, Sevilla, and Valencia are all in the running for European places. Two out of the three are specifically gunning for that last Europa spot just like we are. We have to hold serve.
If you told me to map out what we needed most based on all four of these teams next three games. I would say we need to beat Granada because they have Eibar and Leganes coming up, a draw with Sevilla would probably be fine assuming they lose to Barcelona before they face us, and beating Valencia is absolutely crucial because they’re Valencia and I hope they lose every game (plus they have two fairly easy matches before they face us).
If we can come out of this three game set in European places, we are gonna look very, very good headed into the final six matches of the season. It all starts today, let’s get it done.
