Sara Monforte renewed as coach of Villarreal Femenino

Plus a bit of info regarding the B and C sides

Villarreal has announced today that they have reached a deal to renew Villarreal Femenino A coach Sara Monforte for the coming season. Originally from Castellón, since retiring as a footballer she has been coaching at Villarreal. In her first season with Villarreal managed to get promoted to Reto Iberdrola, the newly created second tier, and this last season she managed to be one of the top teams of the Grupo Sur. When the pandemic kicked in, Villarreal was fourth, nine points behind Santa Teresa who got promoted.

As a player, Sara Monforte started in a local club of Castellón before signing with Levante. She had her best playing years there winning two leagues and six cups between three spells, with one season with Villarreal in Segunda and another with Colegio Alemán (future Valencia) in Primera. Her third spell with Levante saw her also playing the Champions League. After Levante, played with Espanyol where she was part of the team who won two cups. Finally returned to Valencia and in 2016 signed with Zaragoza CFF where she ended up retiring in 2018. She was also called up for Spain between 1999 and 2005, playing eleven matches.

Managing to be a top team in the group, with an aim of promotion, will be the objective again, but the rivals will be hard as Fundación Albacete and Granada will have a thing to say. From the B and C sides there’s not much info right now. The B side finished 9th in a season where they spend more time looking to avoid relegation, while the C side finished 2nd, two points behind the leader. So unless La Eliana voids their promotion, Villarreal C will continue in Primera Regional, with their objective of gaining promotion to Autonómica for the 2020/21
