Villarreal continues to be a streaky team this season, and at the moment we’re in something of a funk. It wasn’t helped by VAR this last weekend at San Mamés, to be sure, but the Yellow Submarine has been misfiring of late.
Allen and Zach discuss the use of VAR and its problems this season, and also Villarreal’s problems of late. It’s time for the Yellows to “put up or shut up”, with home matches against Leganés, Mallorca and Sevilla and away matches against Celta and Granada.
We forgot to note that Javi Calleja has been suspended for two matches as a result of his red card on Sunday. Historically Villarreal has had a pretty good record when the second-in-command has to take charge from the sideline (in fact, Marcelino watched our promotion-clinching victory against Almeria from the pressbox; he got suspended a lot that year). We shall see!!!
