Villarreal Cantera update: A better week.

Will Villarreal B find promotion?

Villarreal CF

Villarreal B faced Cornella this weekend in a matchup of sides with promotion hopes. The draw between the fourth and fifth place sides in the table benefited us the most as it allowed us to keep control of the crucial head to head matchup tiebreaker.

In a contest without too many clear cut chances, Iván Martín probably had the best chance of the match early on. Mujica was unable to continue his hot goalscoring form and was replaced by Fer Niño in the 73’, and we spent the last five minutes down a man after Carlos Blanco was sent off. You can see full match highlights in the link below:

After last week where only seven Villarreal sides saw wins, this week was much more promising as twenty-one sides were victorious. The largest win of the week goes to Benjamin C who were 11-1 victors of Esportiu Vila-real.

Also worth noting are the results of Villarreal’s intellectually disabled team, who competed in La Liga Promises in Seville this past weekend. The team was undefeated in three matches, beating La Palmas and Osasuna and drawing Deportivo La Coruna. They play again at the end of March in Las Palmas.

The academy is the heartbeat of any club. Its where the greatest impacts on the lives of young people in the community take place. We’re extremely proud of the results from this past weekend but more importantly we are proud of the quality of people who pull on the yellow shirt week in and week out. It’s a club to be proud of.
