International breaks are always quiet, but that doesn’t mean our players are not active. Here we’ll recap some of the things going on with our players as they represent their countries or play in friendlies for the club.

In CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, Pervis Estupinan took on Juan Foyth and Argentina as both sides began their quest to arrive at Qatar 2022. Here below we have some in depth highlights of the match, in which Estupinan started and Foyth came off the bench (to play right back). The only goal in the game was a penalty scored by Lionel Messi. Unfortunately, the kick was given away by a really, really dumb challenged by Pervis.

In other Villarreal news, Carlos Bacca and Fer Nino scored the goals in a friendly match with Orihuela that didn’t get a lot of publicity (nor to my knowledge was shown anywhere for public viewing). Orihuela is preparing for the start of their season in Segunda B. To be honest, we fielded a fairly strong lineup from the looks of things, Mario, Rulli, Paco, Iborra, Funes Mori, Jaume, all starting. Here’s some highlights:

In a quick summary of other news, Take Kubo will be coming off the bench for Japan today in what I consider to be another reminder that he’s not quite as established a player as Real Madrid fans would like you to think he is. They face Cameroon in a match that will be ongoing as this article is published. Jorge Cuenca started in Spain U21s 2-0 win yesterday, both goals were scored by Brahim Diaz. Ruben Pena has returned to full training, which is exciting to hear, and last but certainly not least Olivia Oprea, a defender for Villarreal Women, was called up to the Romanian national team.

Congratulations to all our internationals, we look forward to you getting back to Villarreal safe and sound. d
