Villarreal set to the field in possibility the most horrific kit they have ever played in. The designers clearly knew Villarreal and Cadiz were to play around Halloween time. Perhaps they wanted to scare everyone with an early fright. Claret and Blue should really be left to West Ham and Aston Villa
10 minutes in Cadiz drew first blood or so they thought. Yet again Villarreal got away with a VAR very marginal decision. Pau Torres and Asenjo will be grateful their break down of communication was ruled out
Both sides were physical and defended well. Very few chances penetrated Cadiz’s midfield. Villarreal were clearly missing a the playmaker spark namely Dani Parejo. Kubo started on the right wing over Samu following his impressive performance against Sivasspor.
2nd half the two yellow submarines hope to torpedo their way to victory. Sadly neither side manged to sink the other.
82nd Minutes in Alcacer gave his biggest impact on the match. Coquelin was brought down in the attacking area. Alcacer stepped up to launch an ambitious long range freekick which caught the keeper of guard . The ball was quickly cleared by the defence.
Minutes later Villarreal’s 4th shot on goal of the match provided a brief rest bite from the boredom. As the corner came in, the ball was pushed out by the defence. Substitute Carlos Bacca sent in a curling right footed shot which was clasped safely into the goal keepers arms.
In the end the game played out to a drawless drab match. Most exciting thing was Cadiz’s early disallowed goal and Emery bringing on 3 substitutes for the final 10 minutes. Man of the Match probably Pedraza. Provided a solid display at LB and provided a decent attacking threat more then any of the front 3.
Next match Qarabag FK in the Europa league then Real Valladolid on the weekend. Keep safe and Vamos Villarreal
