FIFA Virus Strikes Villarreal: Gerard out for 2-3 weeks

Gerard Moreno isn’t going to Ukraine this week. Our star striker suffered a muscle injury and is back in Vila-real.

Bad news is he will be out for at least two weeks, probably at least three, following examination today. If he’s out until the next international break (begins Nov 8) he’d miss our first three Europa league fixtures, plus matches against Valencia, Cadiz, Valladolid, and Getafe. We can only hope he recovers more quickly than expected.

Gerard came on as a sub in Spain’s most recent match, a 1-0 victory over Switzerland. Pau Torres started and played all of that match, and will be with the national side as they play Ukraine on October 13.
