Villarreal B defeated Hercules 1-0 this weekend on on the back of a goal from Ramiro Guerro, who was playing for the first time after 18 months with an injury. Welcome back Ramiro! I can’t say much for Hercules’ defending on that play but I also can’t say enough about the composure to be able to take a chance that late in the game with the score level and your team needing a win. Excellent, excellent work.
In all, sixteen Villarreal sides won this weekend, with two teams winning by at least ten goals. You can see the list of those scores here.
Yeremy Santos and Aitor Vegara find themselves called up for the U18 national side and they will competing for the Atlantic Cup in Gran Canaria against Japan, Mexico, and Slovakia at the end of the month. Good work gentleman and congratulations.
Women’s B player Irene Miguélez has been called up for training sessions with the U16 national side, and we wish to extend our congratuations to her as well.
The main Villarreal website has included a feature on the U8 and U9 teams, including video. If you’d like to hear about the work they are doing and how they idolize Santi Cazorla you can read that here.
A football club is so much more than the first team. The hard work of the younger men and women who dream of pulling on that first team shirt is near the heart of what connects a club to a community, and for that reason it is important to me to celebrate the accomplishments of all of our teams and individuals no matter where they are in the club hierarchy.
