Villarreal CF Femenino plays in the South division of the women’s Segunda Division Pro. The way the Segunda Division Pro works is that the winners of each of the two groups are directly promoted to the Primera division. Our ladies currently sit in fourth, six points adrift of group leaders Santa Teresa.
This article will be the first of weekly updates on the women’s team. If you are interested in catching the matches of the women’s team, the club YouTube channel often posts match videos or highlights in the playlist here.
In 15 matches, we have 25 goals scored and only 15 conceded, with 7 clean sheets. This may not be our year for promotion but with young talent in the side, such Spanish youth teamer Aixa Salvador, arriving in the top flight is only a matter of time.
Our next match is Sunday, 6:00am EST at Alhama. Alhama is sixth in the table so it should be a tight match. We won our last match against them in the first game of the season 2-1. We enter the match on a good run of form, undefeated since early November.
As we start covering the team week to week we will have more details on weekly performance. If the club provides full game footage we will be sure to let you know. The difficulties in getting stats/information/footage of the women’s second tier will make things less detailed than our first team men’s coverage, but they are part of our Villarreal family and we’ll do what we can to share updates on their progress as we get them.
