Villarreal conclude their preseason with a match against Bologna, where they’ll see Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano again. Both teams, interestingly enough, lost to Schalke this preseason, and both beat Augsburg. (We defeated Cologne, Bologna lost).
Bologna start their Coppa Italia campaign the following week—and Serie A begins the 24th, with their first match away to Hellas Verona.
Serie A last season had a nine-point gap between Sampdoria in 9th and Bologna in 10th, and that 10th place finish was six points ahead of 18th. Like us, they flirted with relegation last season before putting it together and escaping the drop zone. The top positions in Serie A are probably set, but Bologna have to be optimistic, even though Erick Pulgar is apparently moving to Fiorentina (for only €10m??).
