Welcome back, Moi Gómez!!

Moi Gómez has returned home, signing a four-year contract with Villarreal. Three years after leaving for Sporting Gijon on a free transfer, we have repurchased him for €1.3 million.

Moi signed with Villarreal from Alicante at age 16, worked his way up through the ranks and was a Spanish youth international. He was part of our promotion team in 2012-13, but really never fit into Marcelino’s counterattacking style, and after being loaned to Getafe, he was let go.

He mostly played in central midfield for Huesca, though he can also play on either side, and can play more as a defensive midfielder too. He is a good passer and had seven assists for Huesca to go along with his two goals.

The purchase price, €1.3m, is a bargain, and he has signed a four-year contract with us. Welcome home, Moi!!!
