As had been expected, Bologna have exercised their options to purchase Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano from Villarreal. No surprise, as both helped Bologna retain their Serie A status after arriving in January.
Soriano leaves Villarreal after appearing in 73 games in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists.
Sansone scored 16 goals and 8 assists in 71 matches, and in 2017-18 led all top European leagues in goals scored after coming on as a substitute (5). His last goal for Villarreal came as a sub against Rayo this season.
Exactly how much of the €27m Villarreal spent on the two has been recovered is not clear; most reports say €16m, but I have also seen higher numbers (€20m or more).
Villarreal USA wishes the two players well at Bologna!!!!
