The B team didn’t do so well, but Villarreal’s Juvenil A side had a rather better weekend of it—they drew 1-1 with Real Zaragoza and progress to the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey by virtue of their 2-1 home win in the first leg. They’ve been drawn against Real Sociedad in the quarterfinals. This was nice revenge for Zaragoza defeating Villarreal on penalties in the final of the Copa de Campeones.
Villarreal U-18 players Alejandro Baena and Iván Morante were important parts of the Spanish side that defeated England on penalties in the Slovakia Cup. Baena scored Spain’s goal in the 1-1 draw and Morante converted one of the penalties.
Rodrigo Alonso and Alexandro Jimenez have been called up to the Spain U-16 national team, and Nacho Diaz has been called up to the Spain U-19 side.
The photo is of all the Villarreal teams that won their leagues (under 19s, under 14s, 12s, 10s and Ladies C).
