Girona—Villarreal GAMETHREAD and HOW TO WATCH

HOW TO WATCH: It’s on the BeINSport second channel.

Relegation update: The results so far have been largely favorable to Villarreal. Huesca and Valladolid picked up draws, Rayo and Celta lost, while Levante face Valencia in the final match of the day. A loss or a draw keeps Villarreal in 18th; a win would move us to 16th or even 15th depending on the result of the Levante match. A win for Girona would not change their league position, but it would open up a seven-point gap between themselves and the drop zone.

The teams:

Girona: Bounou; Ramalho, Juanpe, Alcalá, Raúl Carnero, Pons, Roberts, Aleix García, Portu, Stuani, Borja García.

Villarreal: Asenjo; Mario, Alvaro, Funes Mori, Quintillá, Fornals, Iborra, Santi, Chukwueze, Toko Ekambi and Bacca.

The bench is Andrés; Caceres, Gerard, Manu Trigueros, Pedraza, Raba and Morlanes. (Note the return of Trigueros to the team, which was not expected, at least by me).

Pedraza and Morlanes out and Fornals and Quintillá in is a bit surprising, to be sure.
