A happy plane ride back to Vila-real from Seville, that’s for sure. Villarreal’s Feminina A side played a match in the Canary Islands this weekend, so they shared Villarreal’s charter plane to Sevilla, then went on to the Canaries.
They defeated Santa Teresa, 2-0; the first goal was an own goal, the second was by Salma Paralluelo. The loss dropped Santa Teresa to second place in the league, Albacete going top. The top three clubs make the playoffs, and Villarreal are currently fourth—it’s Albacete on 33 points, Santa Teresa 32, Granada 28, and Villarreal on 26. The ladies have a well-deserved break now until early January.
Villarreal B won yesterday, 3-1 over Ejea. Diego Collado, Ramón Bueno and Edu Espiau got the goals, and it was also good to see Mukwelle Akale back in action—he came on as a sub for Collado late. The B team is now 8th on 26 points, and would be 4th if not for that unavoidable improper alignment at the end of the Castellón match. Next week, the b-boys face bottom club Prat (away).
Villarreal C drew with Novelda, 1-1, and are still second in the table behind the streaking Alcoyano. Villarreal’s third team has its next match at home next Sunday, against Acero.
