Villarreal and Levante draw in friendly; Spain NT match coming up

And, HAIL ANDORRA!!!!

Villarreal CF

I didn’t see it (no one saw it, other than the players and coaches and I guess a video crew) but Villarreal and Levante drew 1-1 in a closed-door friendly yesterday. Carlos Bacca scored for us, Roger Marti for them. A look at the highlights shows thatt Bacca really should have scored at least one more goal, and Villarreal had the better opportunities, but oh well.

The teams were:

Villarreal CF: Andrés Fdez (Barbosa, m. 45); Mario Gaspar, Sofian R (R. Peña, m. 61), Funes Mori (Vadik, m. 70), Migue (Quintillà, m. 61); Morlanes (S. Cáseres, m. 75), Trigueros, Moi Gómez (Iborra, m. 61), Leo Suárez (Collado, m. 75), Ontiveros; Bacca (Villa, m. 75).

Levante UD: Cárdenas; Coke, Cabaco (Eliseo, m. 81), Vezo, Toño; Morales (Clerc, m. 45), Melero, Campaña (Isaac, m. 61), Hernani (Joan, m. 70); Sergio León Mayoral (Roger, m. 45).

#22 in the highlights, incidentally, is Leo Suárez.

Meanwhile, the Spanish national team swings into action tomorrow, against Norway, with kickoff at 12:45 West Coast time in the US.

BUT, CAN WE ALL HAVE A MOMENT OF APPRECIATION FOR ANDORRA’S NATIONAL TEAM?? THEY WON A MATCH!! Yes, Marc Vales (who plays for a second division team in Norway) scored the goal as the Tricolors defeated a 10-man Moldova, 1-0. That is their first win, and first points ever, in qualifying for a European Championship (they’re now 1-0-55 in such matches) and only their third competitive win ever. Congratulations to them.
