Iborra absence from Leicester squad fuels rumors he’s coming to Villarreal

Happy New Year/Feliç Any Nou!!

Leicester City defeated Everton 1-0 today, but the big news as far as Villarreal is concerned is that Vicentre Iborra was not in the squad. Leicester had just played on Saturday, yes, but Iborra—though on the bench—saw no action. So speculation is rampant he is indeed heading to Villarreal.

Other than that, there is an Ike Uche interview on BBC Sport where he’s quoted as telling Samu Chukwueze to remain at Villarreal. Exactly what Samu’s contract situation is, has been the subject of much speculation. He does have a new contract (supposedly with a release clause of €50m) in front of him.

And here’s a rumor: Baba Rahman, Ghanaian international whom Chelsea bought from Augsburg awhile back (and who is currently on loan to Schalke) may be cutting that loan short and is being linked with Villarreal. And Girona. Rahman is a left back who hails from the same town in Ghana, Tamale, as Wakaso Mubarak.

This strikes me as one of those trial balloons that a player’s agent floats around, to tell the truth. So probably, given my accuracy in these matters, he’ll be presented in Vila-real tomorrow :)
