Villarreal take on Swansea in the first match of this year’s Premier League U-23 International Cup. The Yellow Submarine lifted the trophy in 2016; the last two seasons, Porto have won the competition. Swansea were one of the losing semifinalists in 2017, and Villarreal were eliminated in the semis last year.
Villarreal, as usual, have a mix of B and C team players announced for this match; they are
- Keepers: Joan Femenías and Diego Fuoli.
- Defenders: Andrei, Pepe Castaño, Roger Riera, Carlos Blanco, Enric Franquesa and Quintillà.
- Midfielders: Iván Martín, Pedrito, Beitia, Fran Álvarez, Adrián Riera, Akale and Lozano.
- Strikers: Villa, Mario González y Nikola Vujnovic.
Unfortunately, this match is being played as the exact same time as the first team faces Athletic Bilbao, but if you want to follow the match, Swansea City says their site will be streaming it. I do not know if that involves any sort of registration—hopefully not.
Let’s go, Villarreal!! Endavant mini-submarino!!
