Leganés-Villarreal PREVIEW

A win for the Submarine would be REALLY GOOD.

Villarreal return to action Sunday, taking on Leganés in an early kickoff. Neither team has won any of its first three matches; it would behoove the Yellow Submarine to pick up three points here!

New Leganés coach Mauricio Pellegrino can’t be that surprised his team has only one point, as their first two away matches of the season were against Athletic Club and Real Madrid. They came back from a 2-0 deficit to draw at home against Real Sociedad.

Villarreal, of course, lost to La Real at home, as well as Girona, and have only a single point from a visit to Sevilla so far. The talk this week has been about ‘correcting errors’, which seems like an obvious goal, doesn’t it?

Javi Calleja is probably going to go with Victor Ruiz and Alvaro Gonzalez as his defensive pairing, judging from the fact both of them gave media interviews this week (though Funes Mori was playing for Argentina, I guess). We might see new signing Vicente Iborra in midfield, since he is not eligible to play in the Europa League match coming up against Rangers (signed after the deadline).

Oh, Ruiz says his contract doesn’t expire this summer, but the next. News to all of us.

Our team call is:

1. S. Asenjo; 2. Mario Gaspar; 3. Álvaro; 4. Funes Mori;6. Víctor Ruiz

7. Gerard; 8. P. Fornals; 9. Bacca; 11. J. Costa; 13. Andrés Fdez.; 14. M. Trigueros

16. Pedraza; 17. Toko Ekambi; 19. S. Cazorla; 20. Iturra; 22. Raba, 24. M. Layún

28. Morlanes.

No Sansone, Miguelon, or Bonera.

Prediction: 1-1, I guess? Hoping for a 2-1 away win?
