Villarreal’s presentation of Santi Cazorla was a lot of fun today, and certainly got a lot of international attention. From New Zealand, to the UK, it was certainly entertaining. (the magic show starts about 6 minutes in, Santi gets involved about 20 minutes later).
I’m still trying to work out how an amateur magician did a simple red/black card trick at a hostel in the Pyrenees where I was staying 30 years ago, so don’t ask me to explain any of this. All I know is, it worked!
IN OTHER NEWS: Well, there isn’t much. The EPL transfer window slammed shut and Denis Cheryshev is still here; Nicola Sansone seems to have been passed up by Fiorentina. Milan might want to release Carlos Bacca to us in return for Samu Castillejo somehow, which seems....weird. Atalanta seem interested in Roberto Soriano, but they need to make it through the Europa League quals first (they defeated Hapoel Haifa 4-1 in Israel today, so that’s a good start).
Ex-Villarreal man Luciano Vietto gets another new start, joining Fulham on loan. Great news for our buddy Thomas McIlroy, whose two favorite clubs are Fulham and Villarreal!
Also, thinking of Thomas, his former student Adrián Marín left today for Alavés. HE signed a three-year deal with them and we retained a buyback agreement, so they evidently paid us something, not sure how much. (Thomas was an English teacher in Vila-real on exchange for a year, so got to work with some of our cantera players, teaching them English).
Still looking for a decent defensive central midfielder and a strong centerback; any suggestions? (now that the EPL transfer deadline is over, and Sander Berge is still available, how about it??)
