Rukavina departs for Astana; Villarreal have more moves to make

Antonio Rukavina ended his four-year stay with Villarreal, joining Astana on a free transfer. He’s been the consummate professional, playing left back, right back, or even central midfield on occasion. He leaves Villarreal having made 99 appearances over all competitions. Ruka sent a very nice message, thanking the fans, coaches and staff for his time here. We were willing to keep him on, but Astana offered a longer deal and Champions League football, or at least the qualifying rounds. Who knows, we could face Astana and Ruka again in Europe!

Alfonso Pedraza is officially “home”—the club announced he’s going to be part of the first team next year, to no one’s surprise. He can play anywhere along the left side.
