Everyone had today off, but tomorrow Villarreal returns to the practice field. With the preseason ‘stage’ near Girona concluded, the team is again based at home, but will travel to Angers, France and Wolverhampton, England this week (matches on Wednesday and Saturday respectively).
No new news on any ins and outs—I did see one tweet suggesting Fiorentina want to take Sansone on loan with a purchase option, but I don’t see that as a possibility unless it’s one of those mandatory purchase clauses. That might work if it was €10m or so, which seems to be the amount we’ve said we’d take for him (a loss of €3m).
Roberto Soriano is still, as far as I know, on some sort of family leave and has not rejoined the team. He, even more than Sansone, would appear to have no role in the current squad, but we would have to take a big discount on the almost €14m we paid for him.
Denis Cheryshev will be joining the team on Monday, but again, the expectations are he will be on the move. It’s been rather quiet since the World Cup, though.
If anyone hears anything interesting, post it in the comments!
