Racing Club would like Roger Martinez

Article here from an Argentina journalist about Roger Martinez—according to this his former club Racing in Argentina is interested in obtaining him, possibly on loan, possibly buying part of his rights and taking him to play on that basis.

Roger, according to this, is all for it since he wants playing time. Some thoughts:

(1) Villarreal coaches were pretty impressed with that golazo against Madrid—I sense he was out of shape when he arrived from China so a lot of his lack of playing time has to do with fitness

(2) that said, he would be at best a fourth striker with (presumably) Gerard, Ekambi and Unal, so his playing time might be limited. However, maybe not as much as you think if we go to two strikers in a 4-4-2 or something like that

(3) While Villarreal have loaned out players to Argentine clubs, we’ve usually tried to place them with a Primera club first so we can monitor their progress. We are not going to get the same level of detailed information on how a player is doing back there, and it also seems a loan there would pretty much be encouraging Racing to sign him permanently. I doubt we want that, necessarily.

(4) usual caveat as to source. Let’s see what happens.
