Fornals will be out for a couple of weeks.

Medical report today from Villarreal after the carnage on Monday.

Pablo Fornals underwent tests in the hospital which showed he didn’t have a heart problem, but as far as I can tell his fainting episode hasn’t really been explained. Fornals himself said it’s happened to him in training several times before (including once this season if memory serves). The club has reported that when he fell he broke a finger, which will keep him out of action for a couple of weeks.

Given that a broken finger is hardly serious enough to keep a player out for any period of time, I suspect he may be undergoing more tests or meeting with other doctors to figure out what is wrong before he’s cleared to return.

Jaume Costa is apparently okay; his problem—low blood pressure/exhaustion— came about because he was already weakened by gastroenteritis, but he seems to be OK now. Same too for Victor Ruiz.

Meanwhile, Daniele Bonera has a leg muscle injury, not known how severe yet. That’s why he came off at halftime.
