Yesterday Pablo Fornals started and played 77 minutes in the Spanish U-21 victory over Northern Ireland (5-3); by all accounts, he played very well and had an assist on the fourth goal.
Today:
Enes Ünal (Turkey v Ireland): did not start; came on in the 64th minute and played the rest of the way. Turkey won 1-0.
Rodri (Spain v Germany): did not start; made his national team debut in the 82nd minute. He becomes the 14th Villarreal player to appear for the Spanish national team; Capdevila (48), Cazorla (34) and Senna (24) have the most appearances. The match finished 1-1.
Carlos Bacca (France-Colombia): on the bench, didn’t play. Colombia won 3-2.
Denis Cheryshev (Russia-Brazil): on the bench, did not play. Russia lost 3-0.
Rukavina (Serbia-Morocco): on the bench, did not play. Serbia lost 1-2.
Salem (Saudi Arabia-Ukraine): started, played all 90 minutes of a 1-1 draw.
And just in case you’re wondering, no, none of the Saudi players “loaned” to Spanish sides have played a minute in a competitive match, at least not to date.
