The transfer window shuts quietly

The January window closed today, and with Villarreal having already done the big business early in January with Bakambu’s transfer, not much happened. It was a profitable one for us, with our only outlay for Javi Fuego (€750k) and income from Bakambu (~€40m) and the loan of Salem (€5m).

MARCA gave us a 7 of 10 for our efforts, which was the mark most of the teams around and ahead of us got (though Real Madrid got nothing, because they did nothing). Eibar and Betis were other teams who appeared to improve themselves.

At the bottom of the table, Levante, Depor and Las Palmas got the lowest rating, but Malaga and Espanyol weren’t much better. Alaves signed John Guidetti and ex-Villarreal man Hernán Pérez, so look placed to move up the table a bit.

Meanwhile, it’s time for today’s funny. A penalty miss in a Turkish cup match. Click and enjoy.
