A big match tomorrow for our B team as they host Levante Atletíco (Levante B) at the Miní Estadi. After a torrid run in September and October, the last six weeks have been tougher for us—we dropped a home match to Olot and have lost our last two aways.
We’ve fallen to third in the table on 29 points, with Lleida leading on 33 and Hercules on 30. Lleida are away to Barcelona B this week so could drop points. It’s looking increasingly like we may have six or seven teams battling for the playoff places in what is a very competitive group.
Levante B probably won’t be among them, but they are a good group of youngsters, mostly raised in the Levante system and now coached by the granotes’ Luis García Tevenet. They’ve beaten Herculés and Alcoyano away so are certainly dangerous opposition. Ex-Villarreal canterano Manu Viana is a member of this team now; Levante B were relegated to the Tercera in 2016-17 but immediately got back to the Segnuda B in the 2018 playoffs.
The visitors don’t have our firepower (18 goals to our 27) but the defenses have been similar (17 goals allowed vs. 18). If we can get two goals, we can win this, I think.
The match starts at 7AM California time and is available on Villarreal TV Live. If I don’t get a gamethread up, I’ll at least try to post our XI here and those of you watching it can comment below. Endavant Mini-Submaríno!!
