News on the injury front is that Bruno Soriano, Carlos Bacca and Javi Fuego all trained today with the rest of the first team. Of the three, Bacca would have to be the most likely to see action soonest; Bruno has trained before only to find knee discomfort returning, so the key will be to see if that happens this time.
As for Javi Fuego, who knows, but Iturra has looked OK as a fill-in when he’s been used.
Word is that Villarreal will probably go with Mario Gaspar at centerback, partnering with either Funes Mori or Victor Ruiz. Alvaro is suspended, Daniele Bonera is injured again, and playing Mario as the right centerback seems preferable to asking one of the other two to switch sides.
Our internationals have mostly performed well when they played, Fornals coming on and involved in the Spain’s winning goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Funes Mori scoring for Argentina against Mexico (those two teams play again tomorrow). Karl-Toko Ekambi managed to get himself sent off against Morocco, which means he will miss the March 22 international match against the Comoro Islands. I doubt he cares much about that.
