Villarreal B and C teams both win

Villarreal B defeated Espanyol’s B team, 3-1 in a contest . played in driving rain before a small crowd at the Mini Estadi. Enric Franquesa missed a penalty in the 18th minute for the home side, but no matter, Simon Moreno was on the end of a Mukwelle Akale cross from the byline a few moments later and made no mistake.

Villarreal C defeated Atzeneta 1-0 on the road yesterday, and now have 20 points from 13 matches. They’ve lost only once in their last seven games and are 4 points outside the playoff positions.
