Alavés 2-1 Villarreal

This was a thing

Boring first half. The first 10 minutes were well played, and Villarreal got the first goal of the day in a great play finished by Gerard. Great pass from Cazorla to Pedraza, whom puts the ball to Gerard who only needs to push it in. From there, not too much to talk about.

Second half started like the first with Alavés being the one looking for the goal, which motivated Vila to do the same. Sobrino had a clear one, and soon after Calleri from a header tied the game. Ximo Navarro went out injured when his head collided with Wakaso’s one and needed a stretcher to be taken out to the nearest hospital. From there until Ekambi sub in, match didn’t have much happening. Ekambi brought new life to Vila and even was contagious to Alavés players with Ibai getting one hitting the bar. Last minutes were the best when both teams tried to win it, with Alavés being the lucky one when Borja Bastón, that was sub in 1 minute before, got the goal in the first one he touched. 3 points for Alavés, getting the second place, and Calleja may want to reevaluate career paths.
