Villarreal are in a strange situation with only two draws from the first two group matches, and today’s result could well determine how seriously we take the remaining matches in this group. (The away leg at Vienna comes between the Levante and Rayo league matches; Rangers away is between Betis and Barcelona; Spartak at home is after we host Celta and before we travel to Huesca, so there are some important league matches on either side of these).

Still, Villarreal have not been bounced out of Europe in the group phase before and there is money on offer. So pride and money versus prioritizing the league, then.

The teams:

Villarreal ring the changes:

Andrés; Llambrich, Alvaro, Funes Mori, Jaume Costa; Trigueros, Cáceres; Raba, Fornals, Layún; Ekambi

that’s my attempt to put them in some sort of 4-2-3-1, who knows how it really will look.

Rapid go with Strebinger; Müldür, Sonnleitner, Barac, Bolingoli; Ljubicic, Potzmann, Murg, Schwab, Berisha; and Alar.

Might be a 4-1-4-1 with Ljubicic as the one between the fours, I think.

Let’s go Submarine!!! Endavant!!!!
