Villarreal will play Almeria in the Copa del Rey fourth round. The first leg will be October 31 and the second leg December 5, by which time we probably will have forgotten all about it :( It will be the first time the sides have met in the Copa del Rey.

Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales is adamant that he wants to change the format of this competition once the current TV contract expires (end of 2019-20 season).
The final, which Villarreal has never played in, is scheduled for May 25 and as usual there is no stadium identified yet for it.

Meanwhile, here’s Villarreal’s team call for Atleti:

Keepers: Asenjo and Andrés.

Defenders: Mario, Álvaro, Funes Mori, Bonera, Jaume Costa and Pedraza.

Midfielders: Layún, Cáseres, Iturra, Trigueros, Fornals and Cazorla.

Strikers: Gerard, Bacca, Toko Ekambi and Raba.

Victor Ruiz, who has been our best defender of late, is out with a muscle strain. Santy Cáceres comes back into the call after his injury.

Expectations are we’ll go to a 4-2-3-1 with Gerard up top (Toko and Bacca both having been away due to international matches) and either Iturra or Caceres—probably the former—partnering Trigueros in the pivote.
