Roger Martinez joins Villarreal according to reports in Spain

Villarreal have moved quickly to fill their striker vacancy, signing Roger Martinez for €15m. Martinez was property of Inter Milan, who had loaned him to Jiangsu Suning in China.

That’s according to MARCA, who say it will be made official later today or tomorrow.

Martinez is young (23) and has played internationally for Colombia. We’ll see if Villarreal are still interested in Alessane Pléa as well, or if this does it.

If Martinez can replicate Bakambu’s trajectory at Villarreal, it will be money well spent. With Nicola Sansone injured, and Enes Unal still learning to be in the right place at the right time for Villarreal, Martinez should get plenty of chances to combine with Carlos Bacca in an all-Colombian attack.
