Villarreal “U23” will compete in England again

Villarreal will compete again in the “U-23 Premier League International Cup”.

We won this competition in 2015-16, defeating PSV in the final in extra-time at Millwall’s New Den; this year we will face West Ham United, Benfica and Tottenham Hotspur in the group stage.

Athletic Bilbao is the other Spanish team competing this year.

Sept 6 West Ham U23, at Dagenham and Redbridge’s ground

Sept 20 Benfica U23, at neutral site TBA

Nov 14 Tottenham Hotspur U23, at Stevenage FC

I would expect Javi Calleja, as Villarreal B’s ‘mister’, will head our team, which will have mostly B team players with possibly some C teamers.
