Previewing Villarreal B and C

As the start of the leagues approaches, it’s a good time to talk about the Villarreal B and C teams playing, respectively, in Segunda B and Tercera.

Let’s start with Villarreal B. According to the official web, this is the players in the B team:

Goalkeepers: Ander Cantero, Joan Femenías

Defence: Franquesa, Juan Ibiza, Miguelón, Pau, Ramón, Roger Riera

Midfield: Cedrés, Raba, Imanol, Manu Morlanes, Pedrito, Ramiro, Chuca

Forward: Dalmau, Darío Poveda, Franco Acosta, Mario, Simón, Leo Suárez

I also added Leo Suárez who will be available for B team during the season

They are coached by Javi Calleja, who played 7 seasons with Villarreal and won two Intertoto Cup. Calleja will be substituting Paco López, who trained Villarreal B for three seasons and last year almost got a playoff spot. The preffered formation of Paco López was the 1-4-4-2, as Villarreal A.

Villarreal B will start against Atlético Baleares this Saturday at 19:00 local time. A tough match, as Atlético Baleares will try to repeat last season and get a playoff promotion spot. Let’s hope this season is better than last year. Click here for the calendar.

The coach will be Pere Martí. Information is a bit more scarce on this team, so if someone knows a web with a bit more info, would be helpful.

The group this year looks like this

Villarreal C will start the league visiting Crevillente, southwest of Elche, on August 27. There will be some derbies as against Castellón (Jornada 6, September 24) and Almazora (Jornada 21, December 20).
